How to increase CRS score for express entry

Candidates who qualify to apply for Express Entry will be given a score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Even though there are certain aspects over which you have no control, there are some things you can do to enhance your CRS score so that you are able to gain a higher ranking in the Express Entry Pool. Here is how you can increase your CRS score for express entry.

The Express Entry immigration system, created by the Canadian government in 2015, is intense. In general, only applicants with the highest Comprehensive Ranking System scores based on their Express Entry profile receive invitations to apply (ITA) to Migrate to Canada for Canadian permanent residency.

How are minimum points for express entry calculated?

There is no minimum CRS score necessary to accept the Express Entry candidate pool. The CRS cut-off varies from draw to draw and might rise or fall based on a variety of circumstances. Before each round of invites, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) does not provide the minimum necessary CRS score. As a result, the higher your CRS score, the better your chances of acquiring an ITA, so here are some points to Increase CRS Score.

How to Increase Your CRS Score in 2021

Many people with scores in the high 300s are waiting for the scores to drop even further. Instead of praying that CRS score would continue to fall low enough for you to receive an Invitation to Apply, there are things you could do to raise your CRS score.

  1. Retake your language test. If you are a single candidate, each of the four language test areas is worth 34 points if you achieve a Canadian Language Benchmark of 10 or above. If you get a 10 in each category, you’ll get a total of 136 points.
  2. If you are married or in a common-law marriage and have a Canadian Language Benchmark of 10 or higher, each of the four areas of the language exam is worth 32 points if you are the Principal Applicant. If you get 10 points in each category, you’ll have a total of 128 points. If your spouse or common-law partner did not take a language assessment, you may be missing out on extra points. A spouse or common-law partner can earn up to 5 points for each category of the language assessment, for a total of 20 points if he or she achieves a Canadian Language Benchmark of 9 or above.
  3. Consider taking the language examination for the second language if you can speak and understand both of Canada’s official languages. If you are a single candidate, you might receive up to 6 points per category (CLB of 9 or higher), which is a total of 24 points.
  4. If you really are married or in a common-law marriage, the maximum number of points for the second language is 22.
  5. Have your education analyzed. You do not need a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to receive credit for your study. You get 30 points if you are single and have the equivalent of a high school diploma. A one-year post-secondary program is worth 90 points, while a two-year program is worth 98 points.
  6. If you are filing as a married or common-law spouse, your high school diploma is worth 28 points, a one-year post-secondary diploma is worth 84 points, and a two-year post-secondary diploma is worth 91 points.
  7. Transferability of skills — a mix of education and language competency. Your skill transferability score will rise if you get as many points as possible on language and education. For example, if your language was graded at level 9 or higher in all four areas and you have a one-year post-secondary diploma, you will receive an extra 25 points.

Candidates seeking Express Entry can remain in the pool for up to 12 months. They may submit a fresh Express Entry profile if they do not get an Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residence within 12 months of submitting an Express Entry profile. They can re-enter the pool if they still match the conditions.
